I had surgery this last week. I’ve been stuck in a compression bra ever since – which is terribly uncomfortable. Surgery was 5 days ago and my right side feels back to normal already which is great – it’s the left side that is causing me problems. In addition to the partial mastectomy, they removed lymph nodes as well. That created an additional incision in my armpit which is pretty painful. Every time I move my arm I’m in pain – the weird part though is the numbness. I guess that’s pretty normal when they remove lymph nodes; the potential to mess with the nerves is high. I don’t understand how numbness can be painful but it is – I can’t explain it. Even my arm is numb. Every time something brushes against it I want to punch something.
Each day is a little better though so that’s good. I just have to take this one day at a time to get through. Still waiting on the results from surgery – staging and which direction we will go with treatment. More waiting, but at least we have one step done! Progress.
